  • For CSE students

1. What is piggy backing?
A. Piggybacking is used to improve the efficiency of the bidirectional protocols. When a frame is carrying data from X to y, it can also carry control information about the arrived or lost frames from X, and vice versa.

2. What is Round Trip Time?
A. It is the duration in milliseconds, taken by a network request to go from a starting point to a destination and back to the starting point.

3. How many layers are there in the OSI reference model?
A. The OSI reference model has seven layers.

4.What is subnet mask?

A. A subnet mask is a number that defines a range of IP addresses available within a network

5.What is data encapsulation?
AData Encapsulation is an Object Oriented Programming concept that bind a group of related properties, functions, and other members are treated as a single unit. Class is the best example of Data Encapsulation.

6. What is a Link?

Alink (short for hyperlink) is an HTML object that allows you to jump to a new location when you click or tap it.

7. What do you mean by computer networks?
A. computer network is a set of computers connected together for the purpose of sharing resources. The most common resource shared today is connection to the Internet.

8.What are synchronous and asynchronous modes of data transmission?
A. In Synchronous Transmission data is transferred in the form of frames on the other hand in Asynchronous Transmission data is transmitted 1 byte at a time.

9. What is the Stop-and-Wait Protocol?
A. Stop-and-wait ARQ, also referred to as alternating bit protocol, is a method in telecommunications to send information between two connected devices. It ensures that information is not lost due to dropped packets and that packets are received in the correct order.

10. What do you understand by MAC address?
A. MAC address is a hardware identification number that uniquely identifies each device on a network. The MAC address is manufactured into every network card, such as an Ethernet card or Wi-Fi card, and therefore cannot be changed.

  • For non-CSE students:

 1. What is OOPs?
A.
Object-oriented programming (OOP) is a programming language model in which programs are organized around data, or objects, rather than functions and logic.

2. What are C++ tokens?
A. token is the smallest element of a C++ program that is meaningful to the compiler. The C++ parser recognizes these kinds of tokens: identifiers, keywords, literals, operators, punctuators, and other separators. A stream of these tokens makes up a translation unit.

3. What is scope resolution operator?
A. Scope resolution operator (::) in C++ programming language is used to define a function outside a class or when we want to use a global variable but also has a local variable with the same name.

4. How does the variable declaration in C++ differs from that in C?
A.  C requires all the variables to be declared at the beginning of a scope but in c++ we can declare variables anywhere in the scope.

5. What do you mean by reference variables in C++?
A.  A reference variable is another name for an already existing variable.

6. What do you mean by implicit conversion?

A. Implicit type conversion is an automatic type conversion done by the compiler whenever data from different types is intermixed. When an implicit conversion is done, it is not just a reinterpretation of the expression’s value but a conversion of that value to an equivalent value in the new type.

7. What is the difference between a NULL pointer and a void pointer?

A.  When a pointer has  null value it is not pointing anywhere. Void pointer is a specific pointer type – void * – a pointer that points to some data location in storage, which doesn’t have any specific type.

8. What do you mean by static methods?
A. If you apply static keyword with any method, it is known as static method. A static method belongs to the class rather than the object of a class. A static method can be invoked without the need for creating an instance of a class. A static method can access static data member and can change the value of it.

9. What do you mean by multiple inheritances in C++?
A. Multiple Inheritance is a feature of C++ where a classcan inherit from more than one classes. The constructors of inherited classes are called in the same order in which they are inherited.

10. What is the difference between an object and a class?

A. class is a template for objects. An object is a member or an “instance” of a class. An object has a state in which all of its properties have values that you either explicitly define or that are defined by default settings.
